Contact Lenses

Contact lenses bring a whole new perspective to anyone who doesn't want to wear glasses but needs corrective lenses. Lenses must be tailored to both your lifestyle and your eyes so we help you make the right choice from disposable, extended wear, daily, gas permeable, single or multi focal or toric (for astigmatism). Whether you want them for going clubbing or for the golf club, it is important to go to a professional to get your contact lenses.

Daily disposable contact lenses

Daily disposable contact lenses represent the ultimate in convenience - wear them for a day, and then throw them away. These lenses are ideal for busy people who don't have time to clean and care for their lenses. Doctors say these are the healthiest lenses you can wear, and they are ideal for people who have allergies.

Monthly disposable contact lenses

Monthly lenses are the ones that you start wearing at the beginning of the month and throw away at the end of the month. By changing contact lenses regularly you are reducing the risk of any complications to do with old, dirty lenses. Usually you need to clean the lenses and store them in the correct solution overnight before using them again. There are some lenses that can be worn overnight for up to a month without removing them. They come in practically all parameters to correct nearly all prescriptions. There are toric lenses, multifocal lenses and even multifocal toric lenses.

Silicone hydrogel contact lenses

Silicone Hydrogel lenses are the latest development in soft contact lens materials. They are healthier than conventional soft lenses because they allow up to 5 times more oxygen to pass through them and increased oxygen transmission results in better overall eye health. Advantages of silicone hydrogel lenses over conventional soft lenses include: more resistance to protein deposits, less drying of the lenses, lower risk of eye infection and easier handling due to increased rigidity of material. Most optometrists believe that within the next 5 years, more patients will be wearing silicone hydrogel lenses than any other lens material. They are available in monthly and daily disposable modalities.

Gas permeable contact lenses

Gas permeable contact lenses have become unfashionable over the last few years - they are a little more difficult to fit and require more fitting and adaptation time than soft lenses. Many optometrists shy away from them for this reason. They will often give better vision than soft lenses especially in the presence of astigmatism and they last longer. All our Optometrists have experience in most types of contact lenses and will be pleased to offer advice on contact lens type and suitability.
