Whitakers has three fully qualified Optometrists (Ophthalmic Opticians):-

Mr Jonathan Whitaker BSc(Hons) MCOptom – qualified in Birmingham in 1982. He usually works at the Sowerby Bridge practice.

 Mr Jeremy Topliss BSc(Hons) MCOptom – qualified in Bradford in 1981. He shares his time between the Elland practice and Mackereth Opticians in Halifax.

Mr David Armitage BSc(Hons) McOptom – qualified in Cardiff in 1990. He shares his time between the King Cross and Elland practices.

All the Optometrists work with fully qualified Dispensing Opticians who have been specially trained to give advice on all aspects of frame and lens selection. This enables us to provide a thorough and professional service:-


Mr Richard Barker FBDO – qualified in Bradford in 1991. He usually works at the Sowerby Bridge practice.

Mr Christopher Broadbent FBDO – qualified in Bradford in 1982. He shares his time between the King Cross,  Elland and Sowerby Bridge practices.

Dr Helena Culhane FAOI PhD - qualified in 1994 from Dublin Institute of Technology and completed a PhD in Optometry in 1999 at Bradford University. She works at the Sowerby Bridge and King Cross practices.
